  1. A word of advice, to anyone wanting to get hired as a web designer: anywhere you submit an application, there will also be like hundreds of people applying for that same position, and most of them have degree. If you are trying to wiggle your way into this field without certification, you need to at least already know people on the inside.

  2. here’s the thing about web design degrees, you may get web design degrees but unless you’re planning to design websites for other companies it’s a waste of time, effort and money, but owning your own business website web design is just a sub degree you need aside from marketing degree that you need as a combo, so really you need both a marketing and web design degrees to make 100k a year

  3. Art Schools are very expensive 30,000 for Savannah College of Art Design, Rhode Island School of design 48,000 and most others around 23-25,000 (not including board, food, and other stuff)

  4. I really have no choice my parents want me to go to college and get a bachelors then a masters so right now im decideding web design degree or graphic design and i dont wanna go to a college where i will put myself in big debt

  5. Okay I know you said that you do not need a degree but I am already in college and thinking of switching my major to web design and I do not know anything at all about it but I am really interested in learning more about it…. You have 14 years experience and that would look good to any customers but now if you do not have a degree and not a lot of experience it is tough to get a job

  6. web design degree is some necessary because to used for the creativity and know the how designed a web pages and etc

  7. The Webdesign degree is not important or necessary i guess. I know webdesign but I do not study that, I just learn through experience.

  8. I’m was going to school for a web design degree, but I changed it for a web design certificate, I am planning on going back to school for a graphic design degree

  9. Thanks for the reply. Ye, i think it was good that i knew what i wanted to do before work experience, so i could get that early training easily! I created a website on work experience (never got it actually on internet) but it was fairly decent for my first try. Thanks again :)

  10. Hi, I think any form of training you get will only help you. It will never hurt. I think the training you’ll get is great and will help add to your portfolio and grow your knowledge.

  11. Hi, I know this is a late comment to this video, but if you see it could you respond? Im about to leave school in 1 month, I will be stopping on at Sixth Form to do ICT, Physics, Maths and Further Maths, ICT is the main one though. Once i have done that I will create a website from scratch showing all stages of the process to show a company what i can do. I already have experience of web design from my work experience. What do you think?

  12. Hey, so are you saying that you have had success with the community college degree? I have been looking at the bigger schools but I want to get out cheaper than 50 thousand for a two year, ya know…also, I plan to do it online.

  15. Too bad I just spent $70k on a college degree for web design and haven’t learned anything. Seriously. I’ve learned more from mlwebco in the last 20 minutes than I’ve learned in the last month.

  16. please please answer this question!************************

what are good art schools in california? im in highschool and i have no idea ! i also want to major in web design!

  17. Self taught is the way to go if you are talented and driven enough IMO. Weird comparison, but even in hollywood it’s the case. Quentin Tarantino didn’t rot in a film school & waste a bunch of money on a film degree at NYU or whatever. He actually went out and made films instead, like many other people in other areas of the art world, like”Graphic Design” or “Webmasters”…Just my 2 cents.

  18. If you do not mind me asking this, please do respond. What state do you live in?

I’m wondering only because after I get my Associates Degree in my local community college I would like to relocate to another state, but I do not have any networks with in Web Design/ Graphic Design field that is outside of my state, witch I live in Michigan.
